UltraPlane Haulage is proud to announce its membership with the Eco Stars Fleet Recognition Scheme, having been awarded an operational rating of 4 stars. This comes with thanks to Transport Manager Paul May, who oversaw our application and subsequent assessment.
The ECO Stars Fleet Recognition Scheme is aimed at helping fleet operators improve efficiency, reduce fuel consumption & emissions and make cost savings.
The scheme first launched in 2009 when four South Yorkshire councils – Barnsley, Doncaster, Sheffield and Rotherham – wanted to tackle local air quality issues caused by transport, focusing on HGVs, buses, coaches and vans in particular. This was done by applying expert and practical advice to the existing efforts of local fleet operators, with the goal of reducing environmental impact.
ECO Stars has since progressed rapidly, and has now been adopted by many other councils across in the UK including York, Edinburgh and Warrington, and has even been implemented in several cities across Europe. To date, the individual schemes have more than 500 members with 14,000+ vehicles.
